Lucky’s Story

An infection left Lucky lame as a young pup. Because disabled dogs don’t generally get many adoption offers, this sweet little man was facing a life in a shelter, or worse.

But lucky for Lucky, you bought last year’s calendar. Your $29 purchase helped us rescue Lucky. Your $29 purchase paid for flea and tick treatments. Your $29 purchase paid for transport to a specialist foster carer who volunteered to devote hours, weeks, months to Lucky’s rehabilitation. Daily exercises, physical therapy visits, medications… all thanks to your purchase. We are truly grateful, and so are dogs like Lucky. He’s just one of around 300 dogs we rescue annually. Just one that our devoted volunteers (yes, we’re 100% volunteer-run, your donation goes directly to dog care) spend countless hours training, rehabilitating and loving back to health.

So how does Lucky’s story end?

Lucky is loved. Lucky is living with his new mum Shannon, her family and their German Shepherd, his new best friend. Shannon feels blessed to have her little shadow, always calmly offering her a cuddle. She says she can’t wait to see him grow up, and give him all the love in the world. Lucky’s awfully fond of teddy bears and couch cuddles. He’s not your average boisterous puppy, instead, he’s quietly devoted to his new family with all his heart and soul. This story could have ended very differently if not for our tireless volunteers, and most importantly, you. Every year, you give someone special one of our beautiful calendars, and it changes the whole world for dogs like Lucky.
