Max’s Journey from Rescue to Forever Home
Max spent a long time in the pound, wishing someone would take him home. Labrador Rescue made it happen.

Max’s Story
Max is very gentle natured and has quietened down a lot since he has been with us. At first he did not seem to respond to his name and that may be because he was at RSPCA for so long. I took him to a dog behaviourist and he showed me a few tricks to get him to respond to his name which he now seems to recognise unless he is having a bout of “selective Deafness”!
Max gets on very well with Bella and they often lay on a mat with one dog’s head using the other dog for a pillow. After Toby our cream lab died, (we got him the same day as Bella) we found that Bella was quite upset at the loss of her soul mate (as well as us) so we thought it would be good to get an adult dog so she have some company. This has worked out very well as Bella is 10 years old and Max has given her a new lease on life.
We have a small house on 1 acre in the country (as well as our home) and Max loves being there. Despite his problem with right elbow and left hock he travels very quickly even if he looks a little ungainly. Our vet thinks that as he was surrendered to RSPCA weighing 50 KG this is probably why he has some arthritis at the age of three. We have given him 1 course of Cartrophen which the vet hopes will control the arthritis and avoid very premature lameness.
We had fallen in love with Max after our first meeting and we were not going to send him back because of his legs.
