Milo’s Story
It is close to 2 years since we were so fortunate to have Milo come into our lives. Our beautiful yellow Lab Zoe had gone over the rainbow bridge sometime before and when I went to the RSPCA adoption day in Brisbane and found Lab Rescue I knew that I had to have another Lab in my life!
When we adopted Milo we knew that he had a problem with his vision and that he would sooner or later become blind due to a congenital condition known as PRA. This happened within a year; first one eye and then the other. He adapted amazingly well and as long as we didn’t move any furniture, he negotiated his surroundings brilliantly! His gorgeous happy nature has always shone through and I feel so blessed that he is part of our lives. Thank you so much to Emma and Mick for choosing us and for taking such good care of the Milesta. Milo is Mr December for the 2015 Lab Rescue calendar…such a handsome lad!! He has recently had to have one of his eyes removed as it was constantly swollen and sore but amazingly he was wagging his tail within hours and it doesn’t seem to have fazed him at all! What a star!!
Ruby was adopted not long after Milo…she was my first foster fail and as you can see from the photos although she was surrendered to Lab Rescue as a Lab X, she is 99% cocker spaniel!! She is a very sprightly 10yr old girl who while not quite the seeing eye dog for Milo that I was hoping for is nevertheless a great companion.
I’m so grateful to have been involved with Labrador Rescue…you all do an amazing job and I am constantly in awe of your dedication and compassion
