Labrador Rescue assists dogs in crisis across Australia, with offices here in NSW, in Queensland, ACT, South Australia and Victoria.  Our New South Wales office, based in Sydney, matches rescue dogs with prospective families across NSW. While you’ll find most of our rescue dogs in Sydney and Surrounds, our team of volunteers drive across NSW to collect dogs from pounds and surrendering families.

New South Wales Lab(rador) Assistants Needed

Our team of volunteers – also known as our Lab Assistants – care for around 60 Labradors in crisis every year. Each Lab Assistant provides as much help as they can manage. We’re currently looking for more volunteers to help keep Labrador Rescue the gold standard in dog rescue organisations in New South Wales.

  • Assistant to State Co-ordinator – provide telephone and online administrative support to owners and adopters. Work from home online.
  • Foster Carers – provide a temporary home to a rescue dog in crisis.  Take them to vet appointments, provide food, shelter and plenty of cuddles. Assist in finding them the perfect forever home.
  • Transporters – Take a day trip for us! Collect a rescue dog from a rehoming family, regional pound or shelter and drive them to the nearest capital city (or if you’re feeling especially adventurous, transport the rescue dog to Sydney).
  • Fundraisers and Promotions – Host a workplace morning tea, host an in-store fundraiser at your local pet shop, provide social media promotion, or set up a bequest to Labrador Rescue.
  • Sponsors – Provide much-needed products and services to Labrador Rescue – from quality food to discounted veterinarian services, our sponsors help us prepare our beautiful rescue dogs for adoption.

Dog Rescue Sydney

Wondering why you never see Labrador Retrievers for adoption from Sydney pounds and shelters (if you do see one, let us know!)?  As New South Wales’ most established and trusted Labrador rehoming organisation, we work with pounds, shelters and city councils to ensure that Labradors are rescued from shelters and placed with the ideal home. Our Sydney Lab Assistants even travel across New South Wales to collect dogs from pounds and shelters to find them new families.

Dog Rescue Across NSW

Our extensive network of foster carers extends across the state, but we always need new foster carers in regional locations. Could you be that person? We need dog rescues performed in Western NSW, Coffs Harbour, Bourke, Newcastle Dubbo, Broken Hill, Mildura, Griffith, Cobar, Dubbo, Wollongong and Wilcannia.  Could you become a foster carer or volunteer dog transporter in regional New South Wales?

Rehome Your Dog in Sydney or Across NSW

Rehoming your dog is a tough decision. Know that by rehoming your Labrador through Labrador Rescue, you’re helping to minimise the stress on your dog and placing them in good hands. We’ll love your baby just like you do. We’ll ensure they spend the next chapter of their life in a perfect home.  We have both surrendering options (where our foster carer will take care of your dog and prepare them for rehoming) or we can provide a platform for you to share your own rehoming request. We also offer a Labrador Bequest Service where we will guarantee to collect your beloved dog, care for them in their grief, and then find them an ideal new home after you’re gone.
