Can You Help More Dogs Like Rexi?

Rexi’s Story

It has been a little over 12 months since we were given the chance to adopt our beautiful boy Rexi, and he has been the most wonderful addition to our family.

He is a big, clumsy, goofy, lovable and adorable lab who greets us every morning with a huge grin, and a tail wag that starts at his bum and winds all the way to his ears.

We didn’t know much about Rexi’s past except that he was rescued from a puppy farm where he was used as a breeder.

We’ve since found out that he hates the garden hose, detests flies, does not like birds BUT loves being around us, our family and friends. (Puppy mill dogs often fear hoses)

He goes nuts about going for a walk or chasing after a ball or going for a drive, and being a lab, will eat just about anything!

Rexi loves being around children however his rather enthusiastic welcome and play means the little ones end up on their bottoms albeit with lots of sloppy lab kisses given to make up for his over zealous affection.

His squeaky toy is his pride and joy, and he will show it to every visitor to our house- it gets pushed into some inappropriate areas during these prideful presentations but this is all taken in the spirit with which it is offered.

We are very grateful to Labrador Rescue, and especially to Rexi’s foster carers Carmel & Kevin who matched Rexi so very well with our application.

To anyone reading this who is thinking of getting a lab, or for that matter any dog for themselves or their family, please consider a rescue animal- you will not regret giving an older dog a home as any love you give will be received back tenfold.
