The beautiful Banjo came to us from a giveaway on Facebook. Yet another Labrador cast aside, here is his story.
The beautiful Banjo came to us from a giveaway on Facebook. Yet another Labrador cast aside because he had grown out of his cuteness & had developed problems that were most likely inherited by a genetic problem passed down by poor breeding.
Banjo was a very chubby 1 year old boy and needed to find someone that would love him. Instantly he became part of our foster family, a very loving & happy boy.
Once we got him home, we noticed that he was having difficulty with his back legs when he walked. After testing, the Vet advised that Banjo was in a very sad predicament. The Vet advised that our darling boy was certainly in extreme pain due to his legs spending more time dislocated than they do in the knee joints. The saddest part was the fact that he has never known life without extreme pain. Some days you can see it in his eyes, but no matter how painful his legs are, he will always get up and come to greet you with his whole bottom wagging, just like a typical Labrador. It’s heartbreaking to watch each day, so we decided to seek the opinion of a Specialist Vet.
A light at the end of the tunnel has come for Banjo from Queensland Veterinary Specialists in Brisbane, who will help Banjo to become the Labrador he was always meant to be.
Banjo will have two intensive surgeries over the next few months. Both surgeries will be long & painful, his recovery after each surgery even longer, not to mention expensive. The first surgery will be on his left leg to fix his bones & straighten his leg. After a 6 week quiet recovery period, Banjo will go in for the second surgery to fix his right leg, which appears to be more damaged than his left. Again, this will be a long surgery with a recovery period of approximately 6 more weeks. After a final check by his Surgeons, this loving boy will know life without pain. He will be free to run & play like a 2 year old Labrador should. Banjo will have a new life, thanks to the amazing love & dedication of his foster family & extended families & the determination of his Surgeons at QVS.
Now is where we ask for your help. Each surgery has been quoted at $6,500 each, a total of $13,000. We know it is a lot to ask for, we know it is a lot to put Banjo through, but every life deserves a second chance and Banjo deserves a happy, healthy & pain free life.
Can you help Banjo begin a new life without severe pain? Everything, anything at all helps and is tax deductible as we are a registered charity... $5, $10, $20 every bit goes a long way.
