Meet Dakara — but you can call me Dax!
28 kg of love, cuddles, muddy paws and Labrador mischief!

Hello, future family! My name is Dakara, but my foster family calls me Dax for short!
I’m a handsome black Labrador boy, born on 15 September 2025, and I’m currently living my best foster life while waiting for my very own forever family.
First things first —
I’m a BIG cuddle bug!
You see, I haven’t quite realised that I’m no longer a tiny 10 kg puppy. I’m now a rather solid 28 kg boy, but in my mind, I’m still small enough to climb into your lap for a cuddle! I absolutely adore affection, ear scratches, belly rubs and being close to my humans.
I’m also a very typical Labrador when it comes to food!
I LOVE my food! My foster family feeds me two cups of dry food every morning, just like the other dogs in the household. Sometimes I get a little too enthusiastic at mealtimes, so a slow feeder is definitely recommended! I also love my dental chews and other yummy treats.
And did I mention that
I’m a WATER DOG?
Oh, how I love water! Sprinklers, hoses, paddling pools — you name it, I’m there! I love splashing around, playing fetch, chasing my toys and having a good old-fashioned case of the zoomies.
I also have a few interesting hobbies — including landscaping and fashion!
You see, I LOVE digging! What can I say? I’m still a puppy at heart. Sometimes there’s nothing more exciting than getting my paws into some lovely dirt or sand and seeing what I can discover.
So if you’re looking for a perfectly manicured garden companion, I might have a few landscaping ideas of my own! A designated digging spot and plenty of activities would help keep me entertained. And speaking of my hobbies, I’ve apparently developed a rather expensive taste in footwear.
I LOVE shoes — particularly Birkenstocks!
I’m not entirely sure why humans insist on wearing them when they’re clearly such wonderful things to investigate and carry around. My foster family says I have excellent taste, although they would probably prefer that I admire their footwear from a distance!
So, future family, a little advice: keep your favourite shoes safely tucked away while I continue learning the difference between my toys and your belongings. I promise I’m working on my puppy manners!
I’m a clever boy, but please remember I’m still learning!
I already know how to sit, stay and wait, and I’m toilet trained too. I walk well on the lead, although sometimes I can get a little distracted by all the exciting things around me. My recall is still a work in progress, and occasionally my Labrador stubbornness makes an appearance!
I also enjoy car rides and adventures. I’ve previously been to the beach and on camping trips.
I recently visited the vet, and guess what?
All the staff absolutely adored me! Apparently, I’m quite the charmer!
Now, there’s something important I’d like you to know about me.
Although I’m a big boy, I can sometimes be a little nervous underneath all that Labrador enthusiasm.
When I feel unsure, particularly around unfamiliar people, sudden noises or other dogs barking at me, I might respond with a nervous, reactive bark. I’m not trying to be naughty — sometimes the world just feels a little overwhelming.
My foster family has been helping me understand that I’m safe. With gentle reassurance, patience and positive experiences, I’m slowly learning to feel more confident. I’d really love a family who understands that building trust takes time.
What about children?
I can be a little timid around younger children, so I think I’d feel more comfortable in a home with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to give me space when I need it.
In my previous home, some neighbouring children were unkind to my brother and me, throwing rocks at us. That experience may have contributed to my nervousness. I’m learning that people can be kind and gentle, and I just need time and positive experiences to help me feel secure.
And other furry friends?
Well, I’m currently sharing my foster home with THREE other dogs — two Labradors and one rather princessy Poodle! I’ve also previously lived with my brother, and have been around a smaller Maltese dog. I enjoy canine company, although I can sometimes get a little overexcited during play. If another dog barks at me, I might bark back because I feel unsure.
As for cats? Well, I haven’t met one yet, so that’s still a mystery!
A few more things about me:
I’m desexed, vaccinated and microchipped.
I’m toilet trained and sleep through the night.
I’ve had some crate training.
I love playing ball and know how to wait for “ready, set, go!”
I absolutely love water, digging and outdoor adventures.
I have a particular fascination with shoes, especially Birkenstocks, so please keep them safely out of reach!
I enjoy car rides and exploring new places.
I haven’t shown significant separation anxiety in my previous home, although I’m still learning to be independent.
I can be startled by loud bangs.
I’d love a secure yard with room to play, explore and perhaps even a special digging area of my own!
So, what kind of forever family am I looking for?
I’m hoping to find a loving, patient family who sees me for the wonderful young Labrador I am — a big-hearted, affectionate, sometimes goofy boy who is still learning about the world.
I’d thrive with people who enjoy spending time with their dog, understand that young Labradors need exercise, enrichment and ongoing training, and are happy to guide me with kindness and consistency.
I might occasionally bark when I’m nervous, dig a hole where I probably shouldn’t, borrow a Birkenstock without asking, or forget that I’m 28 kg when I come running over for a cuddle.
But underneath all that puppy enthusiasm is a sweet, affectionate boy who just wants to feel safe, loved and part of a family.
I have so much love to give, and I can’t wait to share it with my very own humans.
Could that family be yours?
Love, cuddles and muddy Labrador kisses,
Dax
P.S. If you’ve got a paddling pool, a slow feeder, a little patch of dirt I can call my own, room on the couch for a 28 kg lapdog and somewhere safe to store your Birkenstocks, I think we’re going to get along just fine!
